Or unless the person is the table tennis version of Fuji Shusuke (PoT). Dont think its possible to do a ball catch unless the ball speed is very slow.

catching the ball, with one contact only, and throwing over the ball like this.

but one needs exquisite hand-feel for it.

i know i can't, and most, if not all players here can't too.

but it's still possible.

and as mentioned by RayLemon, it's indeed possible if you're using a super sticky rubber. and a very very dead sponge would help too.
